The Network in Defense of Humanity in the US Makes a Statement against the Silencing of Telesur in Argentina
Members of the Network in Defense of Humanity in the United States have come out in support of the statement of the Executive Secretariat of the Network about the silencing ofTelesur in Argentina by the Government of Mauricio Macri.
This action of denunciation also serves as the announcement of the newly formed U.S. chapter of the Network under the coordination of the well-known social activist Alicia Jrapko, currently a leading member of the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity.
Joining with the principle that defends the concept of plurality, one of the ten principles that govern the international platform of artists, intellectuals and social movements, members of the network in the United States condemned the attack to freedom of expression that this brutal action against Telesur in Argentina represents.
The advisory board of the US chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity is formed by know personalities including well known actor Danny Glover, documentary filmmaker Estela Bravo, writers and academics Piero Gleijeses, James Early, Michael Parenti, Nelson Valdes, and James Cockcroft, and the historian and specialist in US/Cuba relations Jane Franklin. Also as part of the US chapter board are Gayle McLaughlin, former mayor of Richmond, Peter Schey, Executive Director of the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, Cristina Vazquez, Vice President de Workers United (SEIU); Felix Salvador Kury, Psychology professor and Director of the San Francisco Clinic Martín-Baró, (SFSU-UCSF), and Clarence Thomas, Past Secretary-Treasurer ILWU Local 10.
