The meeting of representatives of the Network in Defense of Humanity centered its debates on the cooperation between alternative media.
The battle against the hegemonic media and in favor of human Rights are key issues of the Network of broadcasting and Channels in Defense of Humanity, emphasized the participants from different countries of
the Convention of Radio and Television, Cuba 2015 that met in Conventions Palace in Havana.
During the debate that dealt with the role of public media in favor of alternative messages to the dominant culture, it was informed the need to increase cooperation and reach adequately more public that must confront the word challenges such as poverty, wars or battle against terrorism.
According to Omar González coordinator of the Cuban Network in Defense of Humanity, this cooperation between alternative media is very important and aspires for an international projection.
He called attention to the function of optimizing integration of the peoples to achieve and emancipating economy with solidarity, achieve sovereignty and international legality as well as unity in the diversity and culture for all.
González pointed to some of the achievements of the Network in the past years that include the publication of articles related to the economic blockade of the United States imposed against Cuba, the 120 years of the fall in combat of José Martí, the 7th Summit of the Americas or the peace process in Colombia.
“The Network is in constant expansion and represents a growing movement that is enriched all the time”, González specified.
For his part Omar Olazábal, director of the Office of Communication and Image of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba emphasized that the Network “pays attention to the work of our intellectuals and scholars in defense of humanity”.
He also explained that Cubavisión Internacional broadcasts a series of programs entitled Thinking in the Network under the direction of Leandro de la Rosa and narrated by the journalist Gisela García Rivero.
“We intend that these programs reach many parts of the world and that each channel supplies the necessary translations”, Olazábal explained.
“The Network is a platform, a movement of ideas that supplies a critical view from the perspective of the peoples”.
