The head of the government of Venezuela Capital District, Jaqueline Faria honored Rene Gonzalez, one of the Five Cuban Heroes that is visiting our country (along with his wife Olga Salanueva. The event took place at Casa de las Primeras Letras Simón Rodriguez in the presence of the Minister of Culture Fidel Barbarito and the Deputy Minister of Human Site development Nestor Viloria. Religious believers and cultural promoters that also attended the event performed a ceremony call ¨A funeral for the Cross¨ honoring the Cruz de Mayo, a tradition that gathers this religious community and honors the Cruz de Mayo with poems and music.
About René González´s case
On October 7, 2011, René González was released from prison after serving his sentence; afterwards he had to serve three years of supervised release in the United States because of his U.S. citizenship. On May 3, 2013, the prosecutor accepted his request to return to Cuba by renouncing to his U.S. citizenship.
The head of government Jacqueline Faría recognized the dignity of the Five Cuban antiterrorist heroes who received unjustified long penalties in the U.S. prisons; she also stressed Rene´s heroism and resistance as an example of struggle recognized by Commander Hugo Chavez in 2009. "Our Commander Chavez grabbed the blood of our Freedom Fighters and their spirit from the books and statues and injected all in our blood; the people of Venezuela follow the example of the constant struggle of the people and the Cuban Revolution¨.
She also made reference of the loss of the Bolivarian National Police Jorge Tovar Steven Hill, 24, who was shot in the neck by a sniper while he was cleaning a guarimba in Altamira, in the Chacao municipality. "Today we lost another policeman in defense of his homeland. Regardless of all this violence we will continue with the struggle for our sovereignty and freedom¨.
Carmen Bohorquez, on behalf of the Network of Intellectuals , Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, expressed with heartfelt words a welcome to René González and his wife Olga Salanueva, she recognize the dignity, courage and patriotic resistance that characterizes the Cuban people, "Welcome to the cradle of the Caracas Libertador and Latin American independence who went on struggle more than 200 years ago and revived later on with the fighting spirit of Commander Chavez, when the right wing had taken over.
She stressed how the people of the world have also taken the flags of resistance: "Today the countries of Latin America are fighting with strength to defeat the empire that never rests. She also point out that Venezuela is being intensively besieged by the spokespersons of the imperial power starting with President Obama and the Chief of the South Commando.
"There are direct threats to intervene in the internal affairs of Venezuela. An example of this is the last statement of the Secretary of Defense John Kerry who calls for interference in Venezuela to bring order to the dialogue talks that Presidente Maduro promoted. We know that the intention is to get their hands on the oil and to end The Bolivarian Revolution. But, we have learned to resist by following the example of resistance of the Cuban people. "
She also highlighted the efforts and integrity of Cuba by resisting countless attacks of its sovereignty during 54 years: "We will continue fighting against the empire, armed with the energy of the heroes of our nation and Commander Chavez legacy; we will resist and reach a victory just like Cuba did¨
"You represent the dignity of the Latin America people and the oppressed peoples of the world. We recognize the struggle of the mothers and wives of our Cuban comrades, through their words we became sensitive and join them in this fight, and as Commander Chavez stated we must take this struggle of justice and human rights to all the continents”

This is a strange cruelty of the U.S. government against these brothers, “They knew there was no reason to imprison them, why are they enraged with these five Cuban comrades who were on a patriotic duty trying to avoid damages to their own country? Perhaps they applied their frustrations because they have fail trying to end the Cuban Revolution and decided to apply all their judicial power by sending them to the most unjust prison conditions, but these brothers had the strength, courage and patriotic feeling against these executioners of humanity: the US government.
The International Secretariat of Bolivarian Lawyers Juliana Silveira express: ¨As Chavez good daughters we stick to the legality Chavez taught us. This organization was founded by the late revolutionary lawyer Carlos Escarrá Malave. On behalf of its members a stone from La Gran Sabana of Bolicvar State was given to Rene as a present.

About René González´s case
On October 7, 2011, René González was released from prison after serving his sentence; afterwards he had to serve three years of supervised release in the United States because of his U.S. citizenship. On May 3, 2013, the prosecutor accepted his request to return to Cuba by renouncing to his U.S. citizenship.

This is a strange cruelty of the U.S. government against these brothers, “They knew there was no reason to imprison them, why are they enraged with these five Cuban comrades who were on a patriotic duty trying to avoid damages to their own country?
