Hegemonic press has rested these days with a note by the British weekly, The Economist, which accuses the Argentine government of being “the Luis Suárez of international finances”. It states that by not respecting the rules of world economy the Argentine government has behaved like an adolescent: “rules are made to be broken”.
It also accuses President José Mujica of Uruguay for his comments regarding football.
But if there is a country that has broken the rules and norms of real world order and made it a true cult, that country is England, not disobedient neighbors of La Plata.
Let us go back to a few examples. A large part of the tragedy affecting the Middle East has to do with the criminal irresponsibility by which the United Kingdom violated agreements and international uses and customs to preserve their influence in the region after the Second
World War. What cannot be understood, for example, Is the Arab-Israeli conflict without the “adolescent” attitude of the British Crown.
Another such example is Iraq in which the complicity of London with the criminal adventure of the White House that is the origin of the crisis that today bleeds this country. Still another example, much closer, is the refusal of London to obey resolution 2065 of the United Nations General Assembly requesting the United Kingdom to begin talks with Argentina to end the colonial situation of the Falkland Islands.
This resolution dates back to 1965, almost half a century that London continues to ignore. Or the fact that 16 colonial territories recognized by the Decolonization Committee of the United Nations. Nine are still today under British rule in open violation of the mandate of this international organization.
Therefore, if it’s about violating rules, the condition of “eternal adolescent” of England is overwhelming and should be an incentive (a word The Economist likes to use to impose a certain control of its diatribe against the governments of the Río de la Plata region and look within themselves to avoid discovering the straw in a foreign eye ignoring the beam incrusting its own.
