Against fascist violence in Venezuela
For several weeks now the fascist extreme right in Venezuela has been carrying out a series of destabilizing actions, in collusion with intelligence agencies of imperialism. The purpose of the plan was to generate situations of violence in the streets, especially in the border departments of the Columbian Republic. Parts of these actions included harassment and attacks against the Residency of the Governor José Vielma Mora of the state of Tachira harming his wife, children and children with special conditions housed there who were receiving medical treatment.
Led and boosted by parties of the extreme right such as Voluntad Popular, these actions were repeated in other cities of the country injuring people, closing off of streets, destruction of public and private property as well as actions of provocation against the police forces; until yesterday, February 12 when during events to commemorate the Victory Battle and Youth Day, violence burst between numerous peaceful demonstrations by revolutionary young people with opposition groups with the terrible result of three persons dead, the burning of five official cars, destruction of the façade of the main headquarters of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic and harassment and attempt to destroy several offices of legal and government offices that reminds of a similar plan of events in The Ukraine. All this as part of repeated public calls by Leopoldo López and María Corina Machado “to take to the streets without withdrawal” until the President of the Republic resigns.
Consequently the Network of Intellectuals and Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity cannot fail to state their position against these actions that are products of a deliberate plan to provoke a civil war in Venezuela and thereby open the doors for the intervention by the empire. Enough of violence and death through the ambition of power and domination.
For these reasons: We profoundly lament the death of three citizens who fell victims to intolerance yesterday and demand firm justice be decreed through a strict application of the law that never more agent opportunists of imperialism disturb the peace of the Homeland.
We strongly condemn these acts of violence and join with the call for peace by Nicolas Maduro Moro while firmly maintaining the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez reaffirming the peaceful character that has always characterized the Bolivarian Revolution.
We call on all those who hold opposite views with the Bolivarian Project, to express them in a truly peaceful manner, without disturbing the order and public life through the different means of dialogue guaranteed by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, a revolution that has always granted free expression for all.
Finally we call on international solidarity to defeat any attempt of imposing violence in a country that advances firmly towards a society of justice, equality and peace.
