The arrest of four Cuban-born citizens and ZunZuneo a continuation of the multi track doctrine of non-conventional warfare
The arrest here of four Cuban-born citizens with residence in Miami who intended to execute terrorist actions in Cuba, is a continuation of the multi-track doctrine of non-conventional warfare.
According to the official notice released by the Interior Ministry, Jose Ortega Amador, Obdulio Rodriguez Gonzalez, Raibel Pacheco Santos, and Felix Monzon Alvarez were arrested here on April 26.
All the men acknowledged that they intended to attack military facilities in order to promote violence. They had made repeated trips to the country in 2013 to study the facilities and plan the attacks, the text said.
In addition to the connections between the arrested men and other notorious terrorists like Santiago Alvarez Fernandez-Magriña and Osvaldo Mitat, living in Miami - who in turn receive instructions from Luis Posada Carriles - the intended violent action has plenty in common with the recent accusations from Cuba regarding the so-called ZunZuneo and Piramideo projects.
Havana authorities have insisted that the creation of a platform similar to Twitter, designed for Cuba under the name of ZunZuneo or Piramideo - still underway - is part of the destabilizing strategy Washington has tried to apply to subvert the social stability here.
As the Associated Press revealed in early April, while it was in operation between 2009 and 2012, ZunZuneo pretended to be nothing more than a social network designed to facilitate Cubans' internet access, especially for youth.
In its first stage, "noble" messages such as sports news, music, and culture, were sent, then it began to introduce others with marked political content that were meant to incite popular riots similar to those which occurred in the recent so-called "Arab Spring."
It doesn't take a great deal of imagination to see the connection between the plans of the four men detained in Cuba who have confessed that their mission was to cause not only terror, but also confusion and panic, and the similar destabilizing design of ZunZuneo, a program financed by USAID (U.S. Agency for Internatonal Development).
This latest event justifies once again, that while terrorist plans continue to be planned from the United States such as those than have killed or wounded more than 5,000 people in Cuba in the last half century alone, Havana has the right to defend itself.
