In the same manner it did with the previous program, ZunZuneo, Piramideo promotes the creation of a network of friends who offer possibilities for persons to send one message to members of their SMS massive SMS pyramid for the value of only one message, explained Hilda Arias, director of mobile services of Etecsa.
Only last Friday the Cuban government protested the creation of ZunZuneo, known as the Cuban Twitter that functioned between 2009 to 2012 as a platform for transmission of destabilizing messages to the Island.
Arias explained to the newspaper that Piramideo aims to create a form of communication channel between dissident and opposition groups.
Piramideo is funded by doubtful sources and also intends to mislead private workers and artists in the Island by offering a free platform at a lower than official price to promote their services or works, respectively, Arias added.
Among the messages distributed by Piramideo are news services from Radio Martí supported by United States government funds through the Office of Transmissions to Cuba. Cuban daily - Juventud Rebelde - reported the revelations made by Arias in its Sunday edition, noting that USAID is planning to deliver to contracted companies 4,3 million dollars to support mountage of clandestine cordless networks in Cuba that form part of a project codenamed Conmotion. The purpose is to offer to alleged Cuban technologists the equipment necessary to create their own networks and later link them abroad, creating a mesh of users to misinform about the situation in the country and call for demonstrations, the daily added.
This is another project to create confusion, sow pessimism and discouragement, taking advantage of the shortage of communication materials still existing in the country, caused, precisely by the blockade of the United States it adds. Referring to Zunzuneo it indicated the surprising charges made recently by a research done by the AP news agency that are merely the tip of an iceberg of a giant campaign of subversion against Cuba.
