Love in the Air at Havana Book Fair
Prensa Latina
Havana, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) On the eve of Valentine''s Day, the San Carlos de la Cabana Fortress opened its doors today for the 23rd International Book Fair, FIL 2014. As every February, the best of literature is on offer to captivate lovers, offering incredible histories through the world of reading, this time coming from more than 30 Latin American and European countries.
The delegation of Ecuador is the country guest of honor at this fair. It includes 100 artists, writers, editors, and officials of the government, as well as works by Nersys Felipe and Rolando Rodriguez, Cuban writers to whom the Fair will also be dedicated, running through March 9 across the island.
Some 414 titles published by Cuban publishing houses will be launched in a number of formats: embossed books, mini-books, coloring and accordion format notebooks, along with other texts.
At least, 2.5 million books will be available to the public attending Cuba's most important cultural event, among them, Ecuador, with "De Banana Republic a la No Republica" (From Banana Republic to Non-Republic), by President Rafael Correa, whose launch today in the Caribbean nation has been a long-held aspiration.
The Havana edition of the Book Fair will run through Feb. 23. The Fair will then travel to the rest of the national territory, providing access for all to the best of national and foreign literature.
