Cuba USA
Appalling the present US -Cuba 'Exchange' !
ITS A REAL TRAVESTY THAT THE US GOVERNMENT PROVIDES VISAS TO REPRESENTATIVES AND ADVOCATES OF A 53 YEAR OLD TOTALITARIAN REPRESSIVE CRIMINAL REGIME THAT IS AN EXPERT AT MANIPULATING PUBLIC OPINION BY USING MISLEADING AND DECEITFUL PREMISES.
AS 'OLD HAVANA' IS BEING RESTORED, THE MISERABLE LIVING CONDITIONS OF CUBA'S HOUSING IS A CAUSE OF DEATH OF CUBAN CITIZENS WHO DIE UNDER BUILDINGS THAT ARE COLLAPSING EVERY DAY. AS THE RIGHTS OF GAYS ARE BEING CATERED TO BY THE DAUGHTER OF RAUL CASTRO, THOSE HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS WHO STRUGGLE FOR FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS FOR ALL IN THE ISLAND HAVE BEEN AND ARE BRUTALLY BEATEN, SUMMARILY TRIED AND CONVICTED TO PRISON TERMS.

Cuban President's Daughter Marches for Marriage Equality
BY DIANE ANDERSON-MINSHALL
MAY 13 2012 12:09 PM ET
Castro and fellow revelers at 2010's International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.
The daughter of Cuban President Raul Castro told crowds at Saturday's gay pride march that her father advocated for LGBT rights and she reiterated her her belief in marriage equality, according to Associated Press. Mariela Castro, who heads Cuba's National Center for Sex Education and has been a noted LGBT rights advocate, also praised President Obama's support of same-sex marriage but urged him to get behind federal legislation that would mandate state recognition of same-sex marriages.
The march brought out 400 LGBT activists in Havana to support the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 17. Castro said her father has voiced support for same-sex marriage legalization and though he's been publicly quiet about it, she said, "I am not going to pressure him to say things publicly because I am more interested in concrete results."

Economic Transformation in Cuba
MONDAY, MAY 21, 2012
8:45 AM 6:00 PM
The Graduate Center
365 Fiifth Avenue (@ 34th Street)
After 2008, the newly installed presidency of Raúl Castro launched several initiatives to revamp the highly centralized form of socialism for which Cuba had been known. Though Cuba’s Actualización draws from other experiences of socialist reform, it appears to be a distinctive approach. The Cuba Project/Bildner Center colloquium puts the new approach in perspective and provides an update on the evolving policies and the structural and institutional changes in progress in 2012. The colloquium closes with a review of policy and research implications.
*Registration is required.
*This event has been designed for academics, Cuba specialists, and related professionals.
